At the edges of each screen, were two icons with two flashing lights in two different frequencies, (one at 15 Hz and the other at 17 Hz) The sender focused on one icon, or the other to signal that the block should be rotated to the right or the left. The EEG produced a unique signal, which was transmitted to the TMS helmet of the receiver, who perceived phosphenes which differed for the 15 Hz and 17 Hz signal, and rotated the block in the relevant direction. The experiment achieved 81% success.[25] These results could eventually lead to mind-to-mind communication technology.

Yes, CPUs haven't advanced in near a decade, instead they're architectured for today's applications like SSH and Video de/encoding. GPUs are getting larger and larger and pushing more of their processing to the near-idle CPU using protocols. Most games barely touch the CPU and are really fucking boring, this is why Minecraft is so popular because it actually uses the CPU to generate activity within the game instead of playing back animations or dead-simple AI because real AI is hard and takes time and EA don't got time for that.
We have gone through a couple of die shrinks, but the only result is cheaper, lower powered CPUs that are too dense to be fast as previous generations due to thermal limits.

Technology keeps improving at a steady pace, but planned obsolescence and modern marketing has made it so companies get massive profit by selling you the same shit with a slightly different design over and over, and they won't invest money into newer, more expensive stuff and hurt their profit margin as a consequence.
You actually see steady advancements on some areas due to competition where there are no formed cartels and/or when making the tech change is more profitable. Not on the rest, though.

I talked to a guy who was ex-military and basically said that anything that they come out with, they had the technology for 30 years ago. We had smartphones in like 1980 and the internet has been around since WWII. He said that we have weapons that would blow your mind when they actually get released. We basically have Death Star technology already.
He also said that any movie that shows "future technology" is just to acclimate people to it so that when they finally decide to release it to the public, it appears as if it's new and advanced, even though they had it for years.
