There is no "actual definition" of a hate crime in US law. The US doesn't have "hate crimes". It is a meaningless statement which will either do nothing or be used for the government to execute whoever they want.

Racism is just the realization of one individual that's part of a certain race that at least one other race apart from theirs is different from them. It doesn't matter exactly by how much, small or large. It doesn't matter by how many things, numerous or few. That they make the distinction and decide on it, they are now racist. And racist in this way does not necessarily equate to negative, since any difference, good or bad as I said, could be decided upon and as long as that individual holds it as a principle for a race that they're not a part of, they're by definition racist. Because again, it simply means that that individual has decided there's something different, otherwise you wouldn't need a distinction. And when I say you, I don't just mean any of us, I mean even an individual would not ever feel the need to make the distinction.

But you do need the word, and this is simply because there is a difference between the races, and they are numerous, and distinctive. Some caused and held by culture, some caused and held by genetics. Some bad, some benign. Some can be tolerated by other groups, some can not.

After you think of it this way, you pull the blindfold off your eyes. It's very plain to see that the only assholes in this context are the ones trying to assert that anyone is crazy or evil in nature for possibly attempting to decide that someone is different from themselves. What a travesty, indeed.
