The Democratic party bosses don't care about guns, and would be pretty pissed if they ever actually succeeded in banning guns. What they want is a divisive issue they can use to drum up support among a gullible, overly emotionally electorate.

Which is the same thing with most of their policy goals, like gay marriage, racial equality, etc. It's all just a cynical ploy for political power.

You have to understand problem solving's relationship with the current social dynamic:

There is a problem, gun violence in the United States of America, that is obvious to everyone and there are many possible solutions and ideas to fix the problem. Of those solutions the only ones that are allowed to be voiced are those that fit within the social dynamic otherwise you will be committing political/social suicide. As time goes on the window of what we are allowed vocally blame our problems on has narrowed down to 'White People and Guns'. You can't start talking about mental health, the glorification of violence in the United States, Racial displacement, Culture clashes and MSM creating a toxic division within the country because that is taboo in our current climate and will get you nowhere.

The Left are literally their own worst enemy who limit their problems solution to absurdly basic levels for fear of offending anyone with actually critical thinking to the point where they are unable to even fully understand the problem anymore.

It's a cover because nobody is ever pointing out that in countries like Canada, we have extreme strict gun control you yanks will never allow, yet we still have gangsters spraying restaurants and nightclubs with gunfire every single weekend too. Media never talks about this, because there are no talking points, handguns are already regulated so much it's nearly impossible to get one. So these shootings just keep happening on a regular basis with hardly a peep out of the media unless they hit a bystander.
