Drone vs Area 51

Why don't people attempt to fly drones into unauthorised areas? What is stopping them? Why not buy a burner phone and use that to control a drone you stole or some shit? Is this untraceable?

They'll be jammed.

Rig it with contact poison and DMSO.

You don't then have it fly a straight heading across the base and pickup on the other side.

Oh no, military bases the world over are vulnerable to millennial youtubers!

Get the fuck out.

are you retarded? do you think they just lock on and jam it? after a certain point the entire area has posts that lock off signals going in and coming out unless they are authorized.

even if the drones electric motor still kept driving it in a certain direction no feed would come back, and you could not direct the drone to return.

Idea: find two mountains that are across from each other with area 51 in the middle. Get a long ass rope. Have a person attach the rope to one mountain and another to the other mountain. You just made a zipline. Now have a 360 degree camera go down and see the aliens

Recover the recorded video.

Old school drones would just fly a programmed path and return with the film.

Using GPS. Which will also be jammed.

>Implying Area 51 would be incapable of jamming GPS

>Are you retarded? Modern consumer drones are programmed to go to a location and return.
u think the military can't jam their own satellite tracking system? who exactly do you think the Global Positioning System is operated by?
none other than the owner of Groom Lake AFB

>Old school drones would just fly a programmed path and return with the film.
didn't they experiment with attaching those drones to the SR-71 or the A-12?

you idiot you fail to realize that the drone would lose signal almost immediately way before getting to any base or interesting scenary. in which case it will attempt to return back if it has that capability. there is no way to retrieve the footage if it goes off blindly, it would have to make it the entire stretch of the area which is like 60 miles long, and you can bet your ass they would attempt to shoot it down if they saw it approaching close enough by an outpost.

Area 51 has like a 20 - 30 mile radius no go zone, can residential drones even go a mile?

Just preprogram it. Doubt they use GPS jammers, but if they do, guide it with magnetic compass or gyroscopic one. Not that I care, dumb tinfoil brigrade needs to get a life.

Do you think they keep anything out in the open?

>Depleted uranium

>doubt

Directed EMP also exists in a low capacity on official declassification.
And again, we're talking about Area-fucking-51.

OK, pretty sure GPS jammers aren't being used. People hike into the area illegally guided by their GPS. Jamming would only happen during war because it fucks with planes, hikers, etc.

Plus if your smart, you could just use the jammer as a reference point to fly in a straight line. And no, they aren't shutting the signal off on the GPS satellite itself, that would affect half the continent, we'd notice.

>using windspeed to navigate
>consumer drones wasting mass on a radio altimeter when they can and do use GPS for altitude
Regardless of navigation, there's miles and miles of wilderness to cover before a drone can make it to Groom Lake from the highway. And then it'll have to fly back without running out of power. All while MPs are following it, ready to fuck anyone who tries to recover it.

Hobbysists have flown drones like 50 miles and rc planes hundreds of miles.

Why not have a wired connection
