get into system administration and go for your ccna in security. Since youre a dev start contributing to open source pentesting tools like sqlmap and metasploit or whatever else. Be sure to have a trendy twitter because as you know tech is ONIONS. Being a sysadmin with security will be your pathway into blue teaming, then from there red teaming. I wouldnt do college but since its free? in your country maybe if you have the time

Not sure if it's released yet(I only Windows for games) but you should be able to run any docker image(Including Linux now) because the new v2 WSL. Has the full Linux kernel. You'll need the hyperV license though, which I didn't feel like paying for and everything cept my game box boots Linux only anyway.

It's also pretty much useless in real world. All exploits in metasploit db are already patched. You have to be really lucky to come across an old version that you might be able to own if stars align properly. Expecting bad security/no updates from high profile targets is just being delusional. If you want to be dangerous you have to find/buy 0-days, there is no other easier way.
