Unions are fine but no one should be forced to join one or to hire people who are in one or not for people for being in one.
If you can convince enough workers to be in your group that you have real negotiation power, good for you but they shouldn't be allowed to use violence to close shops etc.

Everywhere I work pays me prevailing wage and pension, offers me a 401k provides me with top of the line tools for the job and puts on parties, barbecues at work and family functions.

That's what the union is for, to protect workers, especially skilled ones against a legion of scabs and illegals who will try to do your job for peanuts. Union contractors choose to hire union, and even pay dues themselves to continue to hire union. They can go non union anytime they want.

Few are genuinely good and help their union members significantly.
Most are only somewhat good but aren't really worth their cost if you're not intending to be an active and involved member.
