Wealth vs. Community

Would you really give up
>your video games
>your suburban house
>your fast food
>your pornography
>your vacations
Just for some esoteric feeling of "community"?

Millions of people are making the opposite choice right now and moving into the city.

Don't really have to gve up anything to do that.

No, rabbi. I'm a good goy and I will stay in the urban area so you can suck on my blood.

>materialism
very cucked

tens of millions of people feel discontented with their lives and feel like their lives have no purpose. city life also has nothing to do with having community or not, in the past people have had strong communities within cities. some still do too.

>Would you give up being an industrially fattened consumer for:
>family you are close to and who care for you
>a wide net of friends who share common experiences and goals
>knowing your neighbour and having good relationships with them
>feeling supported by your community and knowing they will have your back

Yes

Yes I do give up wealth for community but only past a certain point. The data on money vs happiness is really well studied, and past about lower middle class, wealth doesn't make you any happier. Money helps you stave off missery by allowing you to buy the things you need like pay for shelter, food, water, clothes and warmth, but past that it has almost no use for happiness, buying nice things feels good for about 15 minutes and then you're done. And you need more new things to get the same effect later.

I earn more than enough to be comfortable and most of the money I spend past my basic needs is on friends, treat people to nice things and have experiences with them rather than buying a new toy.

>vidya
Haven't played since 2013 but sometimes miss just chilling on cod
>suburban house

Nothing wrong with a holiday now and then.

> Your video games
No need, can run electricity off-grid on solar or other battery powered devices.
> Your suburban house
Yes!
> Your fast food
Already avoid it like the plague.
> Your pornography
Pornography can be viewed via magazines or electronic devices, same answer as the first.
> Your Vacations
Why should I trust what the government injects into me because their doctors say its good.
I'd use home remedies and live away from the masses.
> Just to build a "community"?
A communal companionship of friends & family of people I like and could rely upon?, yes always.
> Millions of people are making the opposite choice
Let the millions of masses by blind sighted by the attactions of materialism and excess, it'll be short lived once they need to take out a (((loan))).

This is the most precious video I have ever seen :')

The problem is that those things are addicting and they should be viewed like we view drugs. The fact that these things literally hinders connection(like any addiction) and that people struggle to moderate their use tells you something about how it is an addiction. You really want to quit but you cannot stomach the withdrawals. Once i *have* given that up for good, or decent enough, community, then i would not want to go back.

DESU pic looks really comfy.
