Usually the more conservative thing to do takes more strength and responsibility, but people don't want to think about their actions having consequences anymore and do what feels good usually. Thinking for yourself, making difficult choices, going against the grain is actually really difficult and there are some people that want to stand out like dickheads, who want to feel smarter than everybody else, but in the end it's a struggle.
