I was bear hunting in upstate PA several years ago with a group of 5 or 6 amish guys who the landowner was friends with. They were pretty cool dudes. I don't litter but it struck me as odd how every single one of them would throw their water bottles and food wrappers on the ground after they were finished with them.

First, let me preface this by saying that I like Amish people, and wish them all the best. Now let me tell you everything (just off the top of my head) that's wrong with the Amish.

Amish communities tend to be isolated from the broader society, especially where marriage is concerned. Although to my knowledge, they aren't cousin fuckers like Muslims, because of this limited gene pool, long-term inbreeding becomes a real issue, because after several generations, everyone is 2nd, 3rd, and 4th cousins. Not enough outsiders join their communities to prevent this.

This seems good when you view it through the lens of 'they're not addicted to their phones, the women aren't social media whores, the men aren't porn addicts.' But the reality is, if push comes to shove, and SHTF (which I think most of us agree, is becoming more and more probable), they'll be at a distinct disadvantage.
