Ireland still has Trad Music, Traditional Sports (Hurling, one of Ireland's most popular sports, is thousands of years old and more and more americans are watching it too) and the language still exists in some areas.

This. Normans invaded us, replaced 85-95% of our aristocracy but had them speaking our language, using our legal system and money within a century. By the 1400s hardly any of them spoke Norman anymore even as a second language and loads of English people had entered the gentry.

Compare with Scotland and Ireland. I think the English and the Welsh get well relative to that because the Welsh aren't losing their language or identity any time soon despite experiencing the same pressures the English did, it not worse.

Killing a Norman carried a much heavier penalty (a relic Danish law the Normans modified). English was barely written down for two centuries because the Normans gave as many ecclesiastical position to non-natives as possible. Administration was done in Latin, then French, but not English for hundreds of years. Until 1362 you were legally obligated in courts to plead in Law French, a variant of Norman French, regardless of what you spoke. Law French continued to be used in some circles until the 17th century.

English prose existed as an extreme rarity until the 14th century. Before 1066 it was one of the richest written languages in Europe. So yeah, English had all the same pressures applied to it that Irish did. The entire ruling class spoke Norman French as their main language, even the native landowners since they had to assimilate into Norman culture to stay relevant. What ended up happening? English won out in the end. It carried on in use. So did Welsh, which had all the same pressures applied.

At the start of the 20th century Irish had 650,000 speakers in Ireland, 21,000 were monolingual. That's declined massively since despite political independence. Don't blame anyone else for the language declining.

The Irish faced similar treatment around the same time, only the Normans in Ireland were assimilated.

However in the 18th and particularly 19th Century the stranglehold England had over a majority of the population is completely incomparable to 11th-15th Century England. France was also the Lingua Franca at the time, and only isn't now because of the US.
The "commoners" of England still spoke English en masse (even though "English" was realistically so diverse in its structure from north to south that it's a bit memey to call it one language, but that's semantics) and the same was the case in Ireland.
What happened in Ireland wasn't just a continued suppression of the language, in the 19th Century several events caused a hard and devastating hit specifically targeted at those who spoke the language to the point where it was devastated nearly beyond repair.
It can't be overstated how utterly skullfucked the language was particularly in the wake of the second famine.

Despite all of this there was a strong revival movement which only shit the bed due to the Irish Civil War.

To imply that the Irish Language/Culture failed because of a lack of will is to completely ignore the reality of the history. There were numerous laws imposed in Ireland to reduce the use of the language and yet it persisted for so long.
As I said, the blame for that rests with the Civil War and the retards in the Anti-Treaty IRA. Many of the Revolutionaries said that the success of Ireland's freedom was their ability to become Gaels once more, and the plans for the revival of the language were seen as equally important to the military and economic affairs.
