GATE = Gifted and Talented Education, it's a part of the American system. Basically kids are put through a screening test around grade 3-4 and some are selected by the results of the test to go into separate classes, sometimes separate schools for a day or so each week. Here they are given the most advanced memes the state has in order to ensure they follow the rest of the cattle, or better yet, become the left wing memes and get handed the keys to the gate.
There seems to have been two categories of G.A.T.E Students. Category 1 was kids that after the G.A.T.E program seemed to have been 'selected'. these kids seemed to have been groomed for specific classes and all pursied advanced stem degrees or political degrees, these kids also seem to have been helped along towards that end. Category 2 are kids who 'didnt get selected'. They found themselves in poisitions where their education was sabotaged from middle school on, refused entry into honors roll and other things that would make children that would otherwise be high achievers give up and become massive underachievers. People from the chans are category 2.
Is it confirmation bias? Was anyone else here a G.A.T.E. kid? What's your personal experience?

As much as I’d love to have been a part of some secret underground training program where my life trajectory is plotted out for some unspecified special purpose....it’s not. I’m very average professionally (went to a top university but w/e) and besides coming here, there is nothing abnormal about my life or really the lives of my friends who participated in the program.
Any correlations of experience can be explained by selection bias. There is no reason to believe gate was anything more than another experimental educational program that failed....exactly like the rest of our education system.

my mother was a waitress and my father was a laborer, so as a lower-class kid i actually was given a lot of attention and resources that would've helped me be more of the kind of Category 1 person you described. i don't feel like it was sabotaged...i actively rejected the idea of using Muh Big Brain to rot in a dorm at an expensive college while the real world kept spinning.

The most interesting bit about GATE to me was the curriculum and my middle school GATE teacher. Pretty sure she was Jewish. I loved her at the time, but she was a mysterious person. I have to admit she affected me more than any other teacher I had. We spent three years studying Ancient Egypt and dissecting news media. She was always emphasizing symbolism. My group was small. There weren't many of us.
I would have definitely been a Group 2. Insanely smart on paper, but a very broken person. Bullied to extreme absurds in school. Passed over for everything. I genuinely felt fucked with for the first 24 years of my life.

Semester at Sea is a selection mechanism for rich liberal open minded slightly gifted students to be introduced to Nelson Mandela and Naomi Campbell type projects in Africa. They have an 'Order of Minerva' group on the ship that's shared with alumni. It might be honorific but it's otherwise a secret. I don't know if it ties in with Hillary/Europe thing I can't find anything specific online.

There were similar programs in Canada and it's literally exactly as you said. The good goys were given extreme support and pushes and had teachers and administrators take "special interest" in them. I always assumed it was because I was a repugnant person that nobody ever took a special interest in me despite always being at the top of my class, but maybe it really is a conspiracy. Either way, I was one of those kids involved in some extra-curriculars, but not a ton, and never able to get awarded a leadership role despite good public speaking, exemplary grades (was literally valedictorian), and showing interest. But I also had a healthy disrespect for authority and wasn't afraid to speak up and ask questions. Not to turn this into too much of a blog post but I just assumed I rubbed people the wrong way (which I probably do) but it never really occurred to me that those people who did advance in the high-achieving classes were not afraid to "play the game" and suck up, and that always pissed me the fuck off.

anyone remember the blood draws? i had forgotten all about them until some user mentioned it on a previous thread. a few times i was brought into a dimly lit classroom, blood was taken, then i was left to relax for awhile and then went back to class. our class was in a trailer on the edge of the school.
Looked like that kind of but they were blocks painted in red and yellow to make odd shapes (a star, a box, things that should be easy) but the blocks were weird so they often required forward planning. The test was for SSI so I assume it was to test for development/disability in certain areas. If he got the same, type of test he might have developed early in that specific part of the brain or they thought he was a tard.

Colors don't matter as much but sometimes less color variations can be less distracting. They have them in black and white as well. They can be paper cutouts, cardstock, plastic, wood, etc.
