My city had a 'gun buyback' where a bunch of virtue-signaling retards brought grandpa's antique shotgun out of the attic to be destroyed in exchange for a $25 Wal Mart gift card. There were private purchasers and gun store owners lined up along both sides of the street paying far more in cash to the people before they could get up to the grinder that destroyed them.

Now they're trying to require federal background checks between private purchases (the mythical "gun show loophole", which has been in effect for 2 months and there have been grand total of 2 checks done. 26 of 33 County sheriffs have refused to do it at all, declaring their counties to be "2nd amendment sanctuaries"

M-16 is a military designation of military hardware/inventory. An M-16 is an AR-15 that is owned by the US military. If the military sold you a surplus M-16, it would become an AR-15 when you took ownership of it.

AR-15 is from the 1960's, it's older then M16's
