Our air force is primarily logistics, larger scaled c3, intelligence, and shit like strategic bombers with focus on larger scale operations. Additionally, as much of a meme as the Space Force shit is, the AF deals with space stuff (think satellites and defense networks).

The Navy has a shitton of stuff and capabilities, but their operations are more scale and time limited, but they're much faster to deploy. The air force is slower to get rolling, but once they're up and going, they have much broader capabilities.

In a lot of ways the Air Force is to the Naval Air what the Army is to the Marines.

Because carrier-based aircraft have a far more rigorous set of requirements for pilots and airframes.

Becuase they're bound to the air force and their carriers.

The largest Air Force in the world is the American Air Force, the second largest Air Force in the world is the american Navy.

They're different branches with different responsibilities and scope, planes are just really useful in Naval operations.
