there has been testing at locations without cashiers, and about 80% of automation-resistant customers will still use a machine to order if theres no cashier. That number will probably increase over time. The people that physically cant use a machine have negligible impact on revenue. the days of all human cashiers are numbered

Because the employees sabotage the machines, they make so it doesn't spit out the receipt and the whole thing becomes confusing.. with no proof of purchase it's like if the machine is taking your money but not placing the order.

I don't think those things take cash yet. I know walmart, home depot and other places have machines that take cash. Don't mind using those.

Another problem is yes they can take coupon codes but they aren't able to handle complicated orders/deals. It's still in it's infancy stage, there will be many years that they will hire people to help people be more comfortable using the machines as well.

I was at a burger king last weekend. Guy in front of me tried to use the machines then went back in line in front of me. He was holding a receipt. I knew what he was doing. He did the survey in the back of the receipt and got the codes for a free whopper but has to buy fries/drink. Do you think the machine can handle that? Do you think the machine will take his receipt? Sure he can press in the codes but then he gets to abuse it because the machine doesn't take his receipt to make sure he doesn't use it over and over and over. Not that it's even a good deal. When I ordered, I could see the cashier had a small basket of receipts shes been collecting from customers using those receipts for the deal. Also she was super slow because she had to take breaks to put orders together and yell out people's orders so she pretty much was doing two jobs. The line was long as fuck by the time I was done.

So yea they will still keep one register open but those lines will be long as fuck. They will have someone help people use the kiosks because it is a transition and those machines do not do everything needed. There was a time when people didn't pump their own gas, it took a few generations for people to adequately expect people to learn to do it on their own. It's a transitioning period.

Eventually I forsee all the food flash frozen in some 3rd world country or China and shipped here. All fast food will be like vending machines.

Depends. The one I worked at did 5 mystery shoppers a month and 5 corporate visits. Management bonuses were based on how well we did with those mystery shops. It was 100$ bonus if all 10 were good. 90 seconds or less from order to food, food prepped right, etc.

Literally every store will still need physical attendants for when things go wrong, or people don't want to use a cashier. But no McDonald's I've gone to has people not using these en masse, and every one has several of them.

But really, they are everywhere. Most mcdonalds have these now as an alternative available to the cashier. Replacing shit suddenly would alienate consumers. There was a cost-benefit done on the cost-savings of timely replacement versus the consumer hesitance.
