Communism wasn't deterrent enough to push out any subversion and immediately taking the shitter after Lenin kicked the bucket. Stalin introduced practically State Capitalism and then after he died, Cosmopolitanism came in with Khrushchev and from there they liberalized and died out. To fixate on this useless Cold War paradigm, we'll get no where. Ever. We aren't addressing the main issue that effects us, which is once again, Capitalism.
