For a while I kept receiving emails with an old password of mine as the subject, saying that the SUPER H4CK3R that he was had injected viruses through browser security flaws in my computer and knew what kind of porn I watched, saying he'd log in to my social media and post it if I didn't send money to his bitcoin address. I knew these passwords had been compromised by server breaches so I knew it was a lie.
Some people still use the same password for years so I guess that's how it happened.

They dont even hack your webcam. They just get access to some database with almost no protection where they can match your email with a password. For example, some old outlook email data including passwords have been leaked. Since most people always use the same password, these faggots just write an email saying that they have your password and that this is a proof your computer has been hacked and blablabla. This is all bullshit.

I got the same thing. There were two really obvious giveaways, apart from the whole Pajeet language thing:

1. The password was a friend's, not mine, and hadn't been used for a decade.
2. The email said they had webcam footage of me jerking off, but I don't have a webcam.

I could write a better, more widely appropriate, more believable blackmail script. I'd use smartphones instead of computers (smartphones usually have front cameras, and everyone has one, so it's more believable that they were filmed by it). Then I'd play on the ubiquitous fear of constant recording/spying by big companies (that's how we got you, my boomer friend). They'd cast a much wider net that way, but then I'm probably overestimating the wits of the Pajeets who run these scams - and their victims.

Yeah. What happens is, databases from big companies leak from time to time, and these Pajeets/Ahmeds swarm those leaks. They'll have a password and an email address for hundreds of thousands of people, so all they have to do is automate a spam email saying "user X, one of your passwords is Y", and if even 1/1000 victims fall for that shit they make a profit.
