I was berated by a Boomer coworker today. For the nth time. He doesn't know what he's talking about, he had no reason to even speak to me at all because it wasn't his business, and despite his decades of service to the company and seniority over myself, he has no authority to tell me what to do because we're in different management hierarchies. But he loves to tell me what to do anyway, he speaks to me like I'm a fucking child despite the fact I'm 30 and he only earns two dollars more than me. Internally, I enter a blind fury, but I just stand there and smile, because I know something he doesn't.
I know that he's mistaken 20 years of job experience for an IQ. His mind is a simple matrix of if/then statements based on trial and error, and he's an imbecile in all other aspects of life. I can figure things out the first time with reasoning while he likely fucked up dozens of times before coming to the same conclusion I did in five minutes. And I also know that I could end his life in seconds if I chose to. He thinks he's so much better than me, so much more of a man because he shaved his head and he owns six guns and four pickup trucks, and he has five kids and a fat shit wife who cooks his lunch for him. But none of that would save him if I just picked up a large rock or a steel pipe, walked calmly up to him, and hit him in the face. And hit him, and hit him, and hit him, until he didn't have a face anymore. By the time anyone came to stop me, he'd be gone, and I'd be happier. The lack of a "life" that I have compared to his, the power he thinks he holds over me, is exactly what would enable his demise. What do I have to lose? One shitbox car, no loved ones or offspring, a wage a highschooler could earn. All he has to do is keep pushing me, and I'll never let him see it coming until the moment it happens. I can't display my anger, because that would endanger my chances of success, and if I finally choose to pick up that rock, I MUST achieve my goal.
