I agree. The problem comes into play when a society is TOO comfy and don;t even understand how harsh the world can be. They are unable to understand the difference between defense and instigation. In rural communities, open is more accepted. But in overly developed areas, people will reeeeee and call the cops, so it's best to hide your tools.

People will rarely if ever attack a hard target when a soft target exists, yes even most niggers will comprehend this. As for premeditated and carefully planned attacks, those open carrying will be prioritized to be neutralized before all others. This gives you, the concealed carrier an opportunity to assess the threat, time to establish a position and the jump on the assailant should you choose to reveal your hand and engage. If retaliation appears to be a losing bet you've got additional time to hoof it out of there while the openly armed parties are engaging eachother.

I don't believe in myself open carrying either, but to think it serves no purpose and there is no benefit is stupid.

It's just uncommon because culture has not caught up to the fact that this is no longer a supermajority white, high-trust society. It's not necessarily edgy, it's just that some people are more woke (and admittedly in some areas, unreasonably paranoid) about violence being perpetrated against them and theirs. What good is a gun if no one knows you have it? What good is a gun that you can't point at anyone without being charged with a felony? The threat of gun play is what makes people behave. If they don't know you are armed, there is minimal benefit.
