Because if your goal is control, you want to spread your influence as wide as possible. Marx (a jew) thought the working class of all countries across the world would unite and rise up against the property owning classes. He thought a farmer in Germany had more in common with a farmer in France than a factory owner in Germany. World Wars 1 & 2 proved him wrong. Communism didn't work on a global scale, and in fact didn't work in developed countries at all, only in places like China and Russia where the population was overwhelmingly destitute serfs/peasants.
Since communism didn't work globally the way it was supposed to, they had to find something else that would allow them to push forward with their universalistic ideals. They found it in globalization and neoliberalism.
