Either through pollution of one kind or another, habitat destruction by clearing land for agriculture or housing, by introducing invasive species, by soil degradation through intensive farming, species extinction through pesticides, hunting, over fishing... etc etc etc

We have known about most of this shit for literally over a century now. Yet nothing much gets done. Conservationists manage some victories, after a lot of effort and an uphill battle. But their gains are fragile and can be swiftly undone by governments and the interests of large corporations.

If she can succeed in turning people's heads and making them take notice, and actually demanding action, then good for her. Its just sad that that it takes making her into a media star and some slick marketing to achieve that to a dumb, apathetic and ignorant public. If some climate change quest results in lesser pollutants, less consumerism and most importantly less people, then something positive has been achieved for the environment, climate change or not.

Sadly though I think its all a little too late. The worse thing is that the bottom line is unacceptable to most people. Less children, less consumerism. Imagine trying to get that through on a popular vote. Then lets not forget we are only talking about the West here. What we do is pretty much irrelevant when you consider the impact created by the populations of just China and India, 2.5 billion and rising. Even if they act and stabilize their populations they will just be replaced in the developing nation game by another nation stepping up to the mark, Indonesia, Nigeria etc.
