I live in the US southwest. I keep the thermostat at 78 in the summer to keep the electric bills below $500-$600 a month. The actual temp during the day in my family room, kitchen, bedroom is closer to 80-84. I've gotten used to it but I hate it. I love the cold. I grew up in the pacific northwest in a much colder climate. I'd love to keep the house in the mid 60s. In the winter I keep the windows open most of the time and I keep my bedroom in the low 60s. sometimes it drops into the high 50s.

I'm so used to the heat, and leaving a ceiling fan on 24/7 that I can't sleep without it on. Even in the winter. I put a bunch of warm blankets on my bed for winter and bury myself in them to keep the 58-65 degree weather, plus the ceiling fan, from freezing me during the night. It's so comfy. I can't wait for summer to end.
