Hell is just a scare tactic in order for you to pay money to the church. Specifically, hell isn’t mentioned as a “place of torment and hellfire for eternity” until after the formation of the Catholic Church.
Even the word “hell” comes from the Old Norse word “Hel” the 5th realm, or re underworld. The underworld is just a different plain of existence and isn’t intrinsically good or bad.
