beyond all reasonable doubt the future of humanity lies in space. The current price for launching 1 kg of cargo into orbit lies at around 1,3 mio US $. In order to send manned missions to the moons of Jupiter at reasonable costs we need a space port in earth’s orbit. A feat that can only be accomplished if the costs of transport into orbit are dramatically cut- by constructing and maintaining the space elevator.
Without it humanity will remain earth bound and we shall forever be powerless and ignorant towards the cosmic forces around us. The cosmos is indifferent to our endeavor of longterm survival. Taking reference to the Fermi Paradox, the Great Filter and the very fact that 90% of all species that have ever existed on this planet went extinct it is mandatory to undertake this great task.
If we lay down the premise that survival is the only universal goal of life, not building the elevator would prove the utter avitality of our species.
So I have summoned you all here, the greatest minds of the 21. century (and the lefty fags who pollute this board as of late), to discuss what will be nescessary for this greatest achievement of mankind.

Nobody is actually working on this. Not because buoyancy doesn’t work, but because you have to overcome the drag that’s still up there at 50km... and our electric space propulsion just isn’t there yet and chemical propulsion is too heavy.
