Technically I don’t have a family member who was in WW2. My grandpas name was Jodie, and he travelled the country pouring concrete for the US.mil and fucking the girlfriends and wives of the men who went away. But my grandma lost her first husband in Normandy, then married my grandpa after him. If that fucker came back, I’d love to show him how far we’ve fallen, how he helped defeat the Nazis but lost to Socialism in the bargain.
Then I’d put the bullet thru his head cuz I’m sick of hearing my grandma talk about him all the time now that my grandpa is dead.

Would be pretty bad for German soldiers to know they lost especially if they died early in the war/s. No soldier thinks they'll die in a war they'll lose unless it was 1918/45.

I'm in a similar position my great great grandfather survived WWI and trained troops during 2 and my great grandfather survived 2. But they lost brothers and no doubt cousins I don't really know much about.

I had relatives who lived into their 90s, so they saw what their country had become before they died. They were disgusted, they weren't proud of the fact they were veterans or that they fought in some great war for 'freedom' and just lived private lives with their families.

I wonder what the typical allied soldier thought about the Jews, or if they ever did. I'd imagine many would be antisemitic purely because it was the early/mid 20th century.

He died in the early 2010s, things weren't as bad as they were today. But his opinion was that the country had completely lost its way and that the politicians are only about their own greed.

I wouldn't want to shock him too much. I'd take him for a drink at the local, and show him all the fancy new beverages we've got. Then I'd take him to a brothel so he get get his end away, but also so he can see how all the lasses shave their lady parts these days. I'd finish off the day by taking him for a curry, but I'd only get him a bhuna. Nothing too hot, like. I reckon he'd be fascinated, and pleased.

I have several great-uncles that died in the Red Army. Many family members shot by German 'special' corps as well. Most of those are buried in Babi Yar. I'd be so happy to have them back.

They were treated as poorly as the others, but they were seldom able to move up the ranks. There were universities and institutions that excluded Jews from study, using a quota system for the maximum allowed for Jews. My father couldn't apply to the university in the city he lived in and went to study in Moscow
