That's the thing. Giving it away is the fastest way to get rid of it. But it's hard to give away something that you paid $100 for even if you don't use it. So you store it with the hope of one day you could sell it. But no one wants to buy used things even at 50% off. You have to pretty much sell a $100 item for $20 in order to sell it, and even then it would be hard to find buyers. The best thing to do is to take everything you don't use/don't need and put it in a box. Then put a sticker on the box with the date that you stored it away. Leave it for a year and if you never open that box, it's best just give it away, unfortunately. Maybe you could give it away as a gift. Maybe you could take it to a pawn shop if you really needed to get $5 out of a $100 purchase.
