It's not possible to build there unless you cut down a big chunk of it and keep it clean with painstaking effort all the time. The forest reclaims the land pretty damn fast.

The Amazon rainforest reclaims deforrested land really fast it it's not deforrested from the margins and kept deforrested by planting other stuff or puttin cattle in there. You just can't open up a space in the middle, build something, and xpect it to last if you dont provide daily maintenance, and this includes roads. There's a reason why there are no decent roads cutting through it, it's not possible to build them unless you fuck up a giant chunk of the forest.
