Christianity has these cool traditions that bring people together like Christmas, Wedding, baptism funeral and confirmation. These are things that even today give provide people something of value even if the religious meaning behind them has faded. Even Nordics that are among the least religious countries in the world celebrate these things.

From there societal pressure and often violence from peers those steadfast in the old ways slowly were turned. Then churches being used for schooling, charity, recording, and community gatherings made it near impossible for the common man to not be involved. It took generations of fighting, political gaming, subversion to turn the continent and even then Christianity had to adopt many native beliefs and traditions, massacre pagans and launch crusades against their own people to win over the local populaces.
