To start with, focus on alternative energy sources instead of fossil fuels. I dont agree with Bernie and AOC that we have to take immediate drastic changes like ending coal burning tomorrow, but that needs to be a goal soon. I also disagree with them when I say we need more nuclear power plants. They have their safety problems, but those are vastly overstated. Wind and solar powers aren’t technologically there for massive use, but I would encourage people to use a hybrid of solar and other power sources until then.
So we just do nothing, got it.
I wouldn’t say those percentages are accurate, but even if humans only cause a fraction of the climate change, a small percentage is still huge on a macro level.
And to your other point, I largely agree. Consumerism is largely why we are at this point in killing the planet. I probably throw out about the same you do every week. This is a cultural problem that people need to be aware of in themselves.
