it's true. I used to review concerts for a well-know print publication and one time I was assigned a band called Keane, which is basically Coldplay-lite. They weren't bad but it was mostly piano/syth stuff. Midway through the set they played a couple songs with guitars and it was night and day how much better and energetic it felt. The guitar songs might not have been "better" but they were so much better to listen to and experience live
