What is considered state of the art A.I. at the moment is "deep learning", which is basically a bunch of linear algebra manipulating big data and finding statistical correlations, often ones that no ordinary human could find. That's very impressive and you can take it a lot farther than you might naively think (e.g. image recognition, natural language processing). But it is not superhuman in all respects and definitely does not deserve to be called 'genius'.
