3) appears to show that IQ matters for income but only up to a certain point, which isn't really surprising

After a certain point social intelligence and personal value systems are obviously going to be far more important that raw pattern-recognition intellect. I don't think anyone is under the impression that successful businessmen are smarter than nuclear engineers.

IQ is speed of pattern recognition. Some people run faster than others, some learn and recognize patterns faster than others. It rubs against the communistic idea that we are not all “naturally” equal or equally endowed with the same capacities and that any disparity between people or groups is always the result of “oppression”. For example, an IQ test could have lots of math questions but if I'm someone socially and kinesthetically intelligent, or maybe just good at languages I'm fucked. They generally are looked at with scrutiny since they only test for certain kinds of intelligence like that.

Nobody argues that Whites should run everything because of their high IQ except autistic libertarians from 2014. We argue that:

>2 - IQ differences are the reason that minorities have worse life outcomes than whites, not "racism". Asians prove this due to their higher IQ and better life outcomes than whites

Whites and Asians are a good example of how both races can have high IQs and create functional societies, but still have obvious differences in character. Just look at Japan or China compared to Europe. Asians have a higher IQ on average, and their IQ is more stable. It tends to be in the ~75-135 range, whereas whites are in the ~50-150 range. This means that whites produce more retards, but also more geniuses, with a slightly lower average. This is why we have higher criminality and dysfunction than asians, but we also have a lot more innovation, because most of that comes from people above 130 IQ. Whites also seem to have more creativity in general, although that's not really measured by IQ.

There are things to appreciate about both types of society. There's not much to appreciate about societies with lower IQs. This is obvious to observe if you take a luck at the civilizations of the world, even if you don't buy the exact science behind it all. Taleb is asking us to ignore our senses in favor of a bunch of poorly contextualized math.

IQ correlation with wealth is not all that high to begin with, but there are several hundred studies that have looked at it and found a weak but consistent correlation. He cherry picked one particular data set from Wisconsin and found that the correlation was small? OK. I mean I'll give it to him I'm pretty impressed, he must have had to dig long and hard to find that one dataset that fit his world view, given the hundreds of others out there. The idea that hundreds of these (by and large far leftist) sociologists are out there manipulating datasets in mass to reveal a correlation that doesn't naturally exists is absurd to begin with. But he managed to find one possibly manipulated dataset, and it DOESN'T show a (strong) correlation. I suspect all of the datasets that don't find a strong R^2 are going to have been manipulated, so good job Talib.
