the beauty of punches, kicks, knees, and elbows (muay thai) is that they're quick like lightening. You're in and you're out. Plus they're simple and you don't need surgical precision.
the beauty of wrestling is that you're attached the person and they're going nowhere. They have to deal with you as long as you're attached.
Grabbing hair and poking eyes or anything with your fingers is a recipe for disaster. I can't imagine doing any of that to the guys I spar with because I'd just get hit so easily. It's such a high risk low reward exchange.
