Each time the german officials asked for official german documents, and proof of being in a camp. And just having polish documents that X o Y just returned from germany, and were in Z place was not proof enough. And when people her told the german officials that communists were confiscating every document (like kennkartas or documents given to people by the ally goverment post war), and gave them polish one in return, were told it is their problem.

So the door example, the fact that the bricks and wood doesn't have traces of Cyclon in it(well B, it sure has A, because it was used in Poland for deratization till late 60s), is a weak argument, because the whole camp was disassambled by the locals everything was stolen. barbed wire, doors, planks of wood, bricks etc. The only thing that was not stolen/destroyed were A the buildings that belonged to the nazi crew of the camp(because russian left troops there). The gate and stuff close to it(because there was a soviet guard post there). Everything else in auschitz today is rebuild. The shoes/glasses/hair pile on the other hand is very real, and time specific.
