>defense budget increasing for the 8th straight time
>over a dozen F35 for "helicopter" carriers
>wants to develop own electronic warfare aircraft

I can't wait until Pearl Harbor 2: Little Trouble with Big China

And who would be their target. Tensions are high with North Korea, China and Russia (over the kurils). A navy would help with power projection around the contested islands. Its not 1941 anymore.

Chink insectoids

probably south korea to be honest

Japan has the absolute moral right and duty to increase their military capacity. What do you suggest? They do nothing as China takes over the whole region? Get fucked chink

Germany is banned from having a military and it's actually upheld.

Japan deserves its balls back

Good for them, I think that they'll make a very valuable and loyal Ally.

Close allies against China and DPRK. would be idiotic.
They even were your puppet but you let them go after the cold war.

This, birthrate always goes up after a war, let them play ball with the big boys.

Germany faces exactly zero credible threat from neighboring countries

who build aircraft carriers for self defense???

What are they planning?

builds*

China and Russia held their first joint air patrol recently. North Korea continues to test missiles and South Korea sees Japan as a threat.

Prior to the trade dispute between Japan and SKorea, Japan announced the conversion of the Izumo-class to operate F-35B VSTOL. SKorea began immediate talks of developing their own aircraft carriers in response. They didn't even talk about having aircraft carriers after China began operating the Liaoning.

Still less than Germany and we are at 1.2% of GDP. Japan is at 0.9% of GDP next year...

I hope they will make some nice anime paint jobs on those F-35s

>Close allies against China and DPRK.
Only because America makes them play nice with each other. But America is leaving the world behind.
If you would like to know more. Read this: zeihan.com/the-return-of-the-hateful-pairs/

THANK YOU TRUMP

Hyuga and Izumo class vessels are technically Helicopter Carrying Destroyers, not carriers. If you read the technical details, they really are for antisubmarine warfare.

If the US pulls out its Japan, Taiwan and South korea vs China and North Korea. Without cooperation from South korea there is no chance Japan could hold on to it, it would be the perfect justification for the chinese, to protect Korea from the 2. japanese empire and to finally unite it.

Nobody is on Japan's side.

If they keep nagging the eastern european EU states, that might change.

Taiwan and south korea are its natural allies, as long as Japan doesnt start to go imperialist again, in which case they would doom themselfes.

.. Your former super state, the USSR, did.

take your flag off chang

>south korea and japan are natural allies

how dumb are you?

Empire of Japan 2.0, Japan has every right to ensure it's existence.

Meanwhile chinks spend US$175.4 billion this year.

> Taiwan and south korea are its natural allies
wow that's stupid

Thailand and Vietnam are their best friends in the region
If americans leave them, the russians will protect Japan against the chinks.

World War 2 has been over for 75 years and most people who lived through it are dead.

It makes no sense whatsoever in 2019 for Japan to not have a fully functioning military.

>Japan
>Taiwan and south korea are its natural allies
lol take off that flag Nguyen

Amerimutts and their Propaganda machine are the biggest threat with the Migrants.

lol wtf, Koreans north and south do hate Japan and Korea most often than not was a vassal to China... They'ld make a deal with NK and give up on democracy before ever finding themselves allied with Japan in a war against North Koreans.
