Why do guns still look the same as 100 years ago?

Shouldn't technological advancements be visible somehow nowadays?

No need to upgrade, bullets still work fantastically

the 1911 is a piece of shit which is why browning was working on the hipower

even the retarded soviets made improvements to the 1911 when they copied it and produced the TT-33

are you actually retarded? rails, laser sights, reflex scopes, red dot sights, bullpup style rifles, silencers, select-fire, automatic weapons, semi-auto, gas-recoil etc etc

>bullets still work fantastically
Yes, but computers are better at aiming and could shoot much faster than humans

Because they were designed 100 years ago.

Lots of changes have been made to the 1911 over the years. Bobbed hammers, arched mainspring housings, better sights, larger/flared ejection ports, ambidextrous safeties and magazine releases, different calibers, shorter barrels, shorter mag wells, various slide serrations.

Yea but computers don't enjoy it as much

>sentry guns don't exist
yup, braindead

are you still living in the stone age? modern militaries have autonomous weapons systems, they still have a human pulling the trigger because mostly politics

>Why don't people have smart guns like pic related

we do. ask the pashtun on a moonless night what they see along the Tajik border.

Keep fishing user.

I just want it to go bang when I pull the trigger. Only avant garde faggots need go constantly change shit for the sake of change. What's next on your list? The hammer and screwdriver?

I think guns are fine but I'm suprised we haven't moved onto caseless ammo. Bullets are great but the fact that they are just tiny cannons makes them silly to me.
Ideally energy weapons would replace them but it doesn't seem like batteries will ever support the tech.

Cause you're playing too many video games faggot.

>if it isn't broke; don't fix it
same reason sharks and gators still looks the same

caseless is nice but has numerous challenges (go look into the development history of the H&K G11, the problem is mostly with the ammunition)

im not sure on the figures of how much money is being poured into battery tech at the moment but likely in the billions/tens of billions, its a race and whoever gets there first is going to have a huge advantage in multiple areas

the first energy weapons you would probably see fielded would be coil or rail guns, directed energy weapons have their share of problems (i.e. lasers dont work well when its cloudy)

My point is that current technology would allow us to develop armored robots which can storm buildings and shoot everyone inside.
If the military has these things and the people don't what's the point of owning guns to defend yourself from tyranny?

browning was working on the hipower as a clean sheet design only to get around his own patents on the 1911. When those patents expired he redesigned the hipower to be much more 1911 like.

If you look at the technology used in guns over the last 100 years, steels are not much better, the powder is not much better, modern machine tools may be faster, but not 10x more accurate, and they are still designed to kill the same 2 legged animal. So as somebody has said, you can integrate plastics, and Ill add that maybe the mechanism can be more complex because now you can manufacture it more easily now (but then you might sacrifice reliability in the field)

The same reason cars for the most part still have four wheels.

Also aluminum alloys have improved quite a bit over the last 100 years.

Ironic coming from a Swissman. Killer robots cannot impose tyranny if the entire country is armed. Or at least not as easily.

Ok, Costanza.

Ok, I know they don't let you own guns in utility knife land, so I'll be nice. One of the big things about firearms is reliability and the second you introduce electronics that all goes out the fucking window. It is the same reason those stupid fucking safety watch guns never took off.

Because John Bowning was a firearms genieus.

I hope you were being facetious. Swiss have compulsory military and firearm ownership requirements. The entire country is a standing army.

>My point is that current technology would allow us to develop armored robots which can storm buildings and shoot everyone inside.

we already have robots that have near that capability, the amount of logistics required for said robots is immense and they are prone to multiple failures (the US military has seen unarmed ones fail in combat and had to retrieve them manually)

>If the military has these things and the people don't what's the point of owning guns to defend yourself from tyranny?

you dont fully grasp the concepts of unconventional warfare and the internal politics of the USA, a significant portion of soldiers are patriots and would refuse to fight against civilians (they would either defect or stay inside the military covertly and compromise operations in a multitude of ways)

furthermore, the US military is highly dependent on logistics, an insurgent/rebel faction is not. The US military needs oil, electricity, communications, etc. all of these are extremely vulnerable to disruption by even an unskilled insurgent

also assuming there was a conflict, youre talking about about a few hundred thousand infantry (maybe up to a million or two) versus tens of millions of insurgents/rebels

the US has run simulations on all of this for years (gee its almost like theyre worried) and consistently they lose everytime

people just think that the US government would come into a city with jets, tanks, and a batallion of infantry and just take over everything, it wouldnt be that simple, itd be more like Fallujah in Iraq but 1000x worse for the assaulting force

>My point is that current technology would allow us to develop armored robots which can storm buildings and shoot everyone inside.
where the FUCK did you get that idea? we don't have this technology

>browning was working on the hipower as a clean sheet design only to get around his own patents on the 1911. When those patents expired he redesigned the hipower to be much more 1911 like.

this appears to be true, although when you look into it, he was making alot of improvements, and it seems like he rightfully abandoned .45

Dude, you are not prepared to use railguns. The damage would be catastrophic. Imagine shooting a robber and with 1 shot you kill him, the family dog and the neighbor's child that was 50 ft on his house.

the gun you posted is over 100 years old you moron.
piss off.

sure bud

Attached: 2.png (1135x790, 872K)

well why do guns look like the way they do?

what I wonder why we still have that design, and not a one where the bore axis is basically right in the center of the hand.
It would basically eliminate muzzle raise and modern sights mean you don't really need to have iron sights in such a height and as close to the barrel to be effective.

Battle rifle cartridge designs from the second world war already do that.
Railguns aren't space magic, they just make a projectile go fast.

what are you talking about? that'd be in a military application where you want extremely high velocity and penetration

in a civilian application you'd have similar bullet velocities to what we have today and you'd be using expanding ammunition to limit overpenetration

No detachable magazine? No laser sight? No 45 degree cuts and grip stippling? What sort of old fashioned brutalist shit is this?

I fired one of these but I didnt like the trigger that much.

Well you have the FN F2000 which I belive does have in-built ballistic calculator/computer thing.

:^)

Attached: tactical pistol.jpg (1024x768, 290K)

you dont get a five seven for the trigger, you get it because of its projectile

if you dont like the trigger im sure theres aftermarket kits available

>when u hungover asf and go to work anyways

>what is functional design
>what is economic considerations
>what is continuous but small improvements
>what is reliability and ease of use

Jesus dude, for a fellow mountain Jew you’re really not thinking with your Shekelsäckel.

theres something even better, basically IRL aimbot

youtube.com/watch?v=AtRHNHqykUM

Its not like I can own a pistol I simply was allowed to shoot a few bullets with different pistols at a gun expo.

here in the states that wouldn't qualify as a pistol because its men't to be shouldered and you can be held with two hands. fucking retarded I know.

It's like a sword- once you get it right, you pretty much get it right.

If something isn't broke, why fix it? Apart from going scifi railgun and lasers there is not much room for improvement.

>why aren't guns as cool as my 10th prestige golden dildo in black ops 57!!!

Attached: soi.png (644x800, 15K)

Based H&K poster

if you took the stock off you could qualify it as a pistol, then you'd run one of these fancy slings to stabilize your shots

basically people figuring out how to get around the ATF's retarded rules

I feel sorry for you considering your country produces and sells an immense amount of weapons

Start a political movement and get your gun laws changed

>your country produces and sells an immense amount of weapons
Since when? In communism we were selling 100 million dollar worth of weapons and ammunition per year now we barely go over 1 million and nobody wants gun here nor would I want gypsies to be able to kill everyone because they have low impulse control.

I believe the improvement on the bullet was the RPG, but there's not really a commercial market for RPGs or obvious reasons.

i want one of these so fucking bad

The government ignores (if not suppresses) infantry weapon advancements to not empower individuals too much.

A sword is recognizable as a sword across all time periods, why wouldn't a gun be recognizable as a gun across all time periods?

sorry its not the cold war anymore and people arent producing and selling guns like candy anymore, I guess my point is you guys produce and sell some neat weapon platforms (especially the five seven and P90, you certainly have a market in the USA, theres a couple of agencies that use these weapons exclusively), you fucked up with the SCAR platform tho

you do understand the principle of deterrence right? when everyones armed that gypsy is going to have second thoughts about pulling the trigger because he knows theres another guy with a gun that will shoot him dead, at least thats the idea in america and it works pretty well, the communities you see with the most shootings and aggravated gun crime are the ones with the least amount of gun owners (chicago, baltimore, etc.)

Well as far as we know technologically speaking the old percussion cap shooting method is tried and true and I don't really know what could possibly be done to some how improve it.

>No need to upgrade,

t. Cavedweller

a glock looks pretty advanced no?

youre comparing apples and oranges, RPGs are used for anti-tank and ant-vehicle purposes, also theyre notoriously inaccurate, much better anti tank weapons exist, and if you were thinking of the anti-personnel HE warheads for RPGs, again those are pretty shit compared to what's available

They would not care if they get drunk or high they will start shooting everything up, nevertheless I have seen romanian build weapons at most of the gun expos I have only seen polish, german, austrian and swiss. The only thing I saw was a joint israeli romanian weapon platform that can fire bot NATO rounds and Ak 47 ones, other than that nothing else.

>why does the human hand still look the same as 100,000 years ago?

*I have never seen

With a weapon you need to remember:
>does it do it's job?
>can it do it better or more easily, without sacrificing anything?
In other words, once it can kill, can it be lighter or more reliable?
Look at OP's pic. Is there anything on the gun that doesn't need to be there? No. You can't really make it lighter without sacrificing safety, accuracy in barrel length, materials quality, whatever.
Does a spear need a dildo attached to it? Do you need a big battery-powered sight to catch in the holster? No.

the fuck do you mean? we literally showcase new infantry weapons systems at international events every year because we want to sell them, the black project infantry weapons are a different story though, who knows what kind of tech they have

Voodoo kraut magic is hidden for none to see or understand

>Look at OP's pic. Is there anything on the gun that doesn't need to be there? No. You can't really make it lighter without sacrificing safety, accuracy in barrel length, materials quality, whatever.

spotted the 1911 fanboy, just go look at modern pistols, theyre superior to the 1911 in a multitude of ways (weight, accuracy, reliability, ammunition capacity)

>posts 108 year old gun
>wonders why 'all' guns look old
Tell me this SCAR doesn't look like it's about to do an orbital drop with some space marines.

Attached: FN-SCAR-L-CQC-FDE-with-FN40GL-L-3-1280x800.jpg (1280x800, 79K)

Yeah you can get a polymer frame smaller caliber for a higher magazine count, and not need big sandalwood grips, but that's actual technological advancement that's visible and immediately disproves OP.

sure thing cheese nigger

Give me a reissue of this in 32 acp and I'd probably jizz my pants.

Attached: 24bd17f6cde31cf1961044ddaf93f78b.jpg (1200x715, 66K)

If it ain't broke dont fix. The only thing you should be worried about is how accurate your gun is and that is not something you can see with your eyes. Only computers and test shootings.

>modern handguns
>reliable
>accurate as 45
I'm going to save you've never fucking shot one. They might have a larger clip.

If the military has these things and the people don't what's the point of banning guns to keep the people in line?

no electronics in guns, nice try commies.

You're living in denial about the cognitive abilities of aome of your fellow countrymen

how dare you insult john browning and claim his beloved 1911 needs upgrading. they could have stopped making improvements in 1920s with the a1 improvement

Are you retarded?
