Do you mean you want to do touristy stuff? The land is massive, you are going to have to be more specific about want you want to see. The Upper Peninsula in Michigan is comfy, small villages in New England if you know some people are cool. There's beaches all over, but the South Atlantic and Gulf are better for swimming in than the Pacific. Out west is lots of national parks and nature to see. I live in the south, but I don't actually think it'd be interesting as a tourist unless you know what you're looking for.

That pic may as well be Ontario. I traveled there earlier this year and was so disappointed that there were the same chains everywhere, just like America. The only main difference I found was that you could get alcohol in Denny's.
But to answer your question, Alaska is definitely at the top of the list. Wisconsin and the Great Lakes areas (excluding Michigan and lower Illinois) are good. I've heard that the northeast, like Vermont and Maine are great as well though I've never been there.

Baltimore has wonderful diversity. Ditto Chicago especially the south side at night.
