I turned it off after a few minutes because I think the Netflix version may be typical subversion. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with the original except on a superficial level - I'll grant you that it's visually good. But they've changed the original ideas completely. The original movie was Jungian. The Skeksis and the Mystics are divided parts of a whole psyche. The Mystics represent the (obviously) mystical side which when divided from the whole becomes a stagnant slothful creature. The Skeksis represent the other side of the coin which is pragmatic engagement in the world, but they're missing the mystical side so they're grotesque and cruel.
I only watched a few minutes of it but it looked like the direction they were going wasn't true to the original; maybe I'll give it more of a chance because it looks good.

I think it is unintentionally redpilled because most of the story was written years ago when high fantasy was a thing.
