I dont know about you english speakers but for me sanskrit seems easy to comprehend linguistically, very similar to my language in pronunciation and often similar words as well. Im considering very much to invest time to learn it if its already similar, might be easier.

Vedas on other hand are preserved and much more available, plus its a similar concept and story, with vedas you will get much clearer picture imo. Imagine Vedas as an college doctor explaining you the topic and those fragmented slavic pagan myths as someone whos not even in that course, but he has found some first years students notes on the course.
