Of my 3 friends with the most schooling 2 of them are openly conservative outside of their work.

They're mostly taught very selective critical thinking. Some extrapolate their critical thinking skills beyond what is socially acceptable and those don't usually end up leftist.
I got a CS degree at a university in one of the most leftist cities in the country but I'm pretty fucking far to the right these days. Partly because I experienced little to no political brainwashing from my faculty and partly because my autistic brain is probably more accepting of the cold, hard reality and is impervious to leftist delusions.

"Educated" today means earning accreditation at some college, and going to college today means being indoctrinated into leftist/socialist idea cancer. It's a neat trick made possible only because the crypto-commies completed their long march through the institutions. They took over the schools, meaning they shape the minds of those that pass through them, and work to make sure no one passes through and earns a degree unless they are part of the hive.

Problem is that intelligence and wisdom are two different things. Having information between your ears does not mean you know how to properly use it. It doesn't even mean you have the correct information, know how to find the correct information, how to tell the one from the other, or even know how to think logically. You can have a masters degree in victim studies and still be a complete fool. The ugly truth is that someone with the equivalent of a high school education in 1860 had a deeper, more well rounded, more useful education than someone today with a 4 year degree.

I remember back during the 2016 election I made a right leaning comment in a class. I don't remember exactly, but it was pretty mellow and just right of center. Everyone froze and stared at me as if I had just told them I eat babies every day.

Seeing all of the brainwashing first hand has really made me sad. I'm no longer "part" of society and it feels like I'm taking crazy pills. I kind of just want to go live in the mountains away from clown world.

It's not really all the critical thinking, it's practicality. Conservatives usually go into the work force because they find it practical for them and for society. This is why the do not imagine impossible utopia's. Although when I went to a certain infamously liberal Uni back in the 80s, even that place had some strongly conservative, even edgy edgelordish professors.
