Free market ain't so free bud. A lot of small construction companies dont offer the benefits unions do. Unions have their pros and their cons at least in the construction field. Pros are you have a guarenteed wage with a guarenteed check and you have work year round that you dont have to look for personally. Cons are mainly money related. If you're smart you can make more money on your own.
Does the corporation not have legions of lawyers and executives at his back and call? They have numbers and money and will squeeze as much as they can from you as possible so without a strong collective to represent your interests as a professional, you unionize.

I get all that. I think unions are bullshit but I get why they are forming and have supporters, and it has to do with govt interference in the market place to begin with. I don't even think union members understand this. If the govt wasn't fucking the free market through laws and inflation... then there'd be no need for unions like we have today. So the govt is fucking things up.... corps have to fuck the workers.... unions organize and use the govt to get some help.
