A bachelors degree is what a GED used to be in today's market. Most employers won't even consider you for an office position without one.

It's easy to rag on people who do art history but they are by far the minority today. I know of at least 4 of my colleagues who went to a good state school for CS working still in the jobs they had during college because the market is oversaturated and without prior work experience no one will hire them.

I payed it back quickly, within I think a year or two. I cant even imagine what someone who has to pay 9 grand or so a semester back would feel like.

I’ve been parroting that college was a scam since I was a punk kid in high school. I remember telling my guidance counselor in 2001 that college was a scam, she tried to convince me otherwise. She told oh it’s not that expensive community college is great, yadda yadda yadda and that it would be hard to find a job without a degree, I told her im smart enough to network and have a good enough personality to land a job without a stupid piece of paper. I was right, landed my first real job at a credit union IT department at 19. Making more money than friends. They’re at school all day, I’m at work. Earning. Get my own apartment at 21.
