I wasn't around during that time, but I'd say the 1970s in Germany were the last decade of post-war ignorant bliss.
The sexual revolution had just happened but has not started to show it's utterly degenerating effect we see today. There was not any real mass immigration yet, only Italians and a few Turks here and there, so societal fabric stayed rather intact. (((Frankfurt school))) professors were already busy indoctrinating the youth.
It's quite gaudy and cheesy aesthetics show the naivety and bluepilledness of the up and coming generation - the boomers. Their parents of the war generation were a defeated generation. Due to their horrid wartime experiences they overvalued material prosperity, comfort and stability. Many were fallen into alcoholism and general hedonism albeit in secret, whereas their children were openly rebellious hippies. They were at odds with their children, yet had nothing to back it up as they were secret hedonists also.
Finally they caved in and as such the 70s became a decade of a generational take over in culture. Everything that shaped modern Germany took control during that time.
I hate to break it to you but during this decade the seeds of today's societal decay were planted and the exaggerated comfiness was only a facade to hide the ugliness that was brooding within (which btw finally broke through with the punk movement of the 80s, which was huge in Germany).
