But JNA pulled out in 92 and it never even went past that little area around vukovar. In the west you fought against lightly armed Croatian Serbs who were also underequipped.

No tanks, no artillery, no planes. We had hunting rifles, police pistols and a few shipments of AK-47s our Hungarian bros smuggled in despite muh arms embargo.

Once we built up our supplies, then '95 came and we swept the land clean of the smrd scum in a matter of days.

I'd say it was important because JNA's plan was to go straight for Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. They were simply stalled for far too long at Vukovar. Sure, some of it falls on absolutely mad lad defenders, but also on sheer JNA incompetence.
