The carbon from cigarette smoke breaks up, over time, and if you stopped smoking and started running regularly, the carbon would eventually break up and the lungs would heal. They would still be scarred, but they would heal.

That doesn't occur with vaping.

Those oils will get embedded in your lung tissue, and they will never leave, unless you find a way to inhale some kind of detergent that can break them down.
