China stopped importing 1st world garbage. That's the whole story. Both the eu and murrica are facing now problem with getting rids of garbage and their very smart head parasites came up with idea of declaring garbage illegal by decree of supposedly improvings the environment, desu. it's simple story.

We're drinking plastic particles all the fucking time and that shit has been linked to lowering sperm count... Regardless of whether you believe in man made climate change, this ban is a good thing. The problem is, that this ban is largely superficial. It doesn't address the larger issue of waste or pollution and is entirely symbolic to look good for the voters and keep corporations happy. If anything, this ban just cuts costs for them.

Maybe they should ban sugary drinks instead, that way we reduce two problems at once; plastic waste and tooth decay.
Also, they make straws out of biodegradable materials now, so just replace the plastic ones with those if you really want them. They even make straws out of pasta now...
