When I was in middle school and high school, the trades were never mentioned to us during our once yearly throat fucking we received to go to college and choose a job. Had I known about them and been more outdoor oriented, I probably would've chosen them because this website alerted me to the college scam in my early teenage years.

Oh well. I'm in graduate school for accounting and going through recruiting now, all the jobs I've applied to with large accounting firms will pay 60-70k right off the bat. I have my CPA exams done too.

NO COLLEGE DEBT either. I feel bad for my sister because she has 40k of debt and is working a dead-end job. If it weren't for my parents offering her a place to live and still paying the phone bill, she would be royally screwed.

It depends on who you work for. Working with a union or large company insures stable work and wages. You typically need an apprenticeship if you want your experience to be rewarded. Small contractors don't make a lot unless your a supervisor or providing other services (equipment, trasnport, supplies). I know many trades workers that never went through an apprenticeship, bought a couple thousand dollars worth of tools and make around $20-$30/hour. Unions are super greasy and companies usually play favorites.

Trades are not well-paid, especially in the first 5 years. They have very little room for advancement or promotion. The most you can hope for is to go into debt getting loans to set up your own business.

Part of the reason they're not well-paid is that these jobs are suffering from labor saturation due to the influx of spics from south of the Rio Grande. On top of that, most people who begin training for a trade flake out. It's hard work. You will be working long shifts. 10 hours is a minimum. I repeat minimum. Once you've passed your apprenticeship, you can expect that to go up. If you're real lucky, you will get Sundays off. That's good because the work you do will be physically intense and you will need Sunday to sleep. If you're unlucky, you're working 7 days. That's good in some ways because it gets you more money (see above re low pay) and you sometimes get Golden Time for working Sundays. Sometimes.

If you actually have the discipline to stick it out, you get the fun of working alongside people with double-digit IQs. Also be aware that speed and meth are major problems among tradesmen. Know why? Two reasons. 1.- When you're working a 18 hour shifts 6 days a week, you need a little boost to keep you focused. 2.- Trades attract the kind of people (white trash) who just love to get fucked up on meth.

Take it from someone who worked in a trade and then moved on to manage tradesmen. Jow Forums doesn't know what the fuck it's talking about. Become an accountant instead. I bought into the bullshit. I know whereof I speak. Low pay, long hours, meth heads, illegals galore, wading in shit at all hours, random injuries - and that's not even counting on the fact that you WILL be expected to go into places that where a white face is like wearing a target on your back.
