I don't believe they hate you, but this idea that kids "need" to move out at a certain age is total lunacy, and I think we can all agree on that. It makes no sense financially and children staying at home while working benefits both parties, while forcing rent or a mortgage payment on someone else does nothing but make the Jews richer. I'm all for personal responsibility in this sort of thing. Once you finish school and move into the labor force I think you should be paying your fair share. But a couple hundred towards rent/utilities with your parents not only allows you to save more, but eases the financial burden on your parents who should be reaching retirement age.
The animosity that seems to exist between young people our age and our parents seems to stem from their expectations that you will leave their home after a certain age. But why does that expectation exist? Sharing the wealth within the family makes far more sense, surely we can agree on that.

As it is there's a grant, a subsidized loan, and an unsubsidized loan. The Pell grant maxes out at $5,500 a school year, $2750 for Fall and Spring. They stopped letting colleges here use it for Summer. The loans max out at something like $7500 a year I believe, I personally receive around $5000. You get six months of being out of half-time enrollment or from graduation before they start coming for it and interest begins on the subsidized loan.

Twelve semesters of the grant and subsidized loans for most people will total around $45,000 with almost half of it not having to be paid back. That's most of the tuition to go to a state college and transfer to a three year masters program university. Taking out the unsubsidized loans, paying the interest monthly, and saving the rest to make payments when you graduate is easy enough. Working part time will cut down the amount of financial aid but it's less debt. Summer classes get you out of school faster for unsubsidized loan interest but come out of pocket.

It's not that fucking hard but instead of educating people on this they make them take bullshit "student life skills" classes where we all socialize over stupid shit and feel good about making decisions we shouldn't need external support to come to. Even then if this is too hard for someone to understand they're probably going to get a worthless degree or be a mediocre worker anyways.

The BEST way to "fix" this "problem" is to have basic finance on the 9th grade proficiency tests and allow federal student loans for select degrees to be given out at the fed fund rate.

I went through comminity college it was like 1k per year (24-36 credits) plus books maybe another 1k. I went through it with a 5 subject notebook and international editions of books.
