I have met plenty of Ukrainians throughout my life. Most of them have struck me as primitive, poorly educated, not very bright and prone to laziness.

I grew up in western Ukraine during the mid to late 90s and into the early 2000s. I remember there being this ever present fear that Russia would invade. After 9/11 everyone was even more worried about an invasion because we through the US wouldn't help.
Ukraine probably should be part of the Russian Federation, but much like the US, there is a deep political rift.
Worse though is the brain drain, everyone wants to leave. I was taken away from my country before I was old enough to protest, now I live in the States.

I’m a west Ukrainian diasplora too but I didn’t live there too long, just born there and came here at the age of 4. However I would never go back, United States is comfy with many opportunities. I still have cousins that live back there and I feel bad for them because they don’t have much opportunity but some of them get by better than most since they own a business that deals in the west. Still life in average sucks there. If you want to live among your people there’s a couple big Slavic diasplora community, some smaller exclusive West Ukrainian ones.
