I loved working as a pizza driver and making tips. You're expected to accept that it's the customer's choice and that they can choose not to tip. I found it annoying when people didn't tip, but enough people did tip for it to be worth it. People like the woman in OP's picture are just big babies.

I don't mean to justify tipping, but it's because the law allows these businesses to pay people under minimum wage and mark up the difference to tips. Federal minimum wage is $7.25, businesses are allowed to pay as low as $2.13 and justify it by saying the workers get tips. I solve the moral dilemma by not eating at restaurants with waiters (and largely by not eating out at all).
All of that said, this woman is a dumb cunt. It does not take more or less effort to serve people more or less expensive food. The whole idea of tipping as a % is flawed. There is no reason to expect a customer to pay you $40 for doing your job correctly.

Why does getting tips have anything to do with minimum wage? The employer acts like tip money is being stolen out of the register to pay the workers, but it's not. People tip their servers for good service, it's a bonus, it's not like they were going to tip the fucking owner but the greedy worker got in the way and pocketed it.

That money is a gift, between the customer and the server.

Not only are shots snuck during work hours, but you get off and immediately head to another bar to drink all night, then go home and crash until 3PM, wake up and repeat. Paying staff well below minimum wage and having customers make up the difference in tips lets restaurants set prices much lower while still turning a profit, which also encourages more customers and repeat business. But customers know that wait staff is supported by tipping, so feel an obligation to tip. If wait safe already got paid a fair wage, then there would be no incentive to tip at all.

I have been in the food and beverage industry for about 20 years and have done almost every job (in addition to owning my own business) so I know these fuckers can afford to pay their employees an appropriate wage with benefits (I have no problem) but instead let their customers (twice, tip + taxes) and the government cover the difference.
