Welcome to Catholic/pol/, where we talk about the importance of faith in politics and society in general. What matters most is NOT Left OR Right, But GOOD and EVIL. >Abortion for example is EVIL, no exceptions. >Adultery is WRONG. Period. >Homosexual activity is WRONG. Period. >Masturbation is immature and wrong. Stop doing it.
P.S. It seems ironic to me that I got a warning for posting "off topic" subjects (i.e. Catholic is "off topic') when this board is often FLOODED with Anti Christian threads and other form of
From the other thread: ">Is KJV a good bible to read from? Big no...It's a Protestant bible. If you speak english, a good Catholic bible is the Jerusalem Bible or the Douay Rheims bible. I know that E.Michael Jones reads the Jerusalem Bible.
portugese? I'm polish-american, or are confusing me with Portugal-user(s)?

You might want to read this small book pic related. I haven't read it, but apparently, it's about the 100th Anniversary of the Protestant Freemason French Revolution, and it's relation to the Jewish Question. amazon.com/Jewish-Question-Civilta-Cattolica-ebook/dp/B007BSCYOE "One hundred years after the French Revolution, the editors of Civilta Cattolica, the official voice of the Vatican on political affairs, came to a startling conclusion: any country which turns away from laws based on the teaching of the Catholic Church and God's eternal law will end up being ruled by Jews. These three articles, originally published over the fall of 1890, explain in detail why this is so, for both France in 1890 and America today. The assertion that Jewish political power derives from usury could have been written with Occupy Wall Street in mind. With an extended Introduction by E. Michael Jones, social critic and editor of Culture Wars magazine."
Checked based and redpilled. >It seems ironic to me that I got a warning for posting "off topic" subjects (i.e. Catholic is "off topic') when this board is often FLOODED with Anti Christian threads and other form of yup. obviously political threads have been getting deleted, like the one i'm linking below
Rabbi meant teacher back then. It DOES NOT MEAN what it means now

I won't say you are wrong, but I will say the world needs religion going forward like the United States needs immigration going forward. Try thinking of it that way.

I'm sure he was teaching them how to uh... make clay pots...in a synagogue...on the shabbath.
Prots will be here in a min or two so prepare yourself and don’t answer them Anons.

What's the difference?

It's all so tiresome.
Protestant Bibles generally have 66 books. The Catholic Deuterocanonical Bible has 73. And the Orthodox canon goes up to 77 books (varies according to tradition).
okay, behold the first prot that will debate with you then. Since people are talking about Bible canon I'll start: Jesus or Apostles never quoted apocrypha books, how do catholics know it's God's desire to include them?
I hope we as brothers can contribute. Anything you can recommend adding
Caleb Lee
This is catholic Jow Forums it belongs on Jow Forums there should be Christian thread as many times as there are anti christian threads
Kayden Bailey
I'm gonna be honest, I never engaged in or really thought about this debate, but how do you know what Jesus said without tradition informing the books you include in the bible? why not the gnostic gospels or the gospel of judas etc...
Kayden Cook
You could do a "Catholic books" edition where you add catholic classics in politics and theology along with descriptions of the books included.
I'm actually considering reading that next week. I work a job where I just spend all my time listening to audiobooks and that will take me about a week to listen to.
Luke Wright
True. Always happy to see it.

The Septuagint included the canon, basically. And the Dead Sea Scrolls confirm that this is what the Essenes, the group John the Baptist belonged to, were following and hold as Holy Scriptures. It's pretty cut and dry, user. The Masoretic texts were a later editorialising process many centuries after there already was a more or less undisputed canon.
Matthew Green
you can read it for free online... if you are tight on money
Owen Rogers
It's good. He repeats himself quite a bit so far, which I think allot of these books do, but it's insightful. Augustine's criticisms of the priests of the Roman pantheon are really interesting. He says they believe one thing, preach another because it's advantageous for the people to believe a lie. It's not unlike modern politics or secret societies.
Friendly reminder to Catholics and others that salvation has always been given to anyone willing by the grace of God through faith; if you're trusting your own prideful works to be saved, then you're not placing your full faith in Jesus Christ.
Romans 11:6 KJV > And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.
Romans 4:5 KJV >But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith counted for righteousness.
Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV >8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: >9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
If works were required for salvation, then all the "believe and be saved" verses from the gospels and the NT would say "believe and work to be saved" including
John 3:16 KJV > For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
True salvation is simple. All the hard work has already been done by Christ. All you need to do is lay aside your own pride and accept the gift of God by believing Jesus Christ did it all for you.
Catholics please read the bible. The work salvation doctrine is unbiblical.
Augustine wanted to add prefaces to the Apocrypha when he did the translation stating they weren't cannon. It isn't cut and dry. Those book aren't omitted by Protestants for no reason.

It's important to note the Catholic Church only officially included them when shit was already exploding to react the reformation during the council of trent. Before that you can note Jerome didn't translate those books (the first latin translator). What was cut and dry is that counter-reformation is real and they needed to react on how they were being attacked. Apocrypha books aren't there for shown, they justify to magic to money as an offering for the sins of the dead, and blatant incorrect historical facts.
So wouldn't that mean that Orthodox is right and Catholic and Protestants are wrong?
Cameron Powell
Complementing that: If we need to go to the mass or confess then the sacrifice of Jesus would be in vain. It's already done, friends.
Aiden Phillips
Yeah, I understand when the Deuterocanonical books were decided, that really isn't the issue. And I know that Jerome didn't include them in the Vulgate, but the Apocrypha were studies nonetheless and used in the Councils, they only weren't read during the liturgy. John the Baptist already followed these books, the man that Christ called the greatest man living. Yeah, John the Baptist studied the Maccabees, praying for the dead isn't magic, user, it's an acknowledgement of the omniscience of God that can judge all things with perfect knowledge of our supplications by way of prayer or sacrificing our property. There is nothing incorrect about this nor does it contradict the OT tradition in any way. I'm not sure what you mean by "blatant incorrect historical facts".
Logan Garcia
Maybe you don't say anything because you can't scripturally back up weird practices?
>Yeah, John the Baptist studied the Maccabees I'm pretty sure all jews read the books because at that time because they still hasn't decided on their canon when Jesus was preaching.
>Never use deceit (Sirach 25:26) vs. Deceive people for God (Judith) There's a lot more, honestly. It's important to stick to the right books, if you take new testament deuterocanonicals books you will even see them neglecting that Jesus is God. It will happen if they are not inspired by the Holy Ghost.
Ethan Phillips
I'll study the polemic more attentively, but I'm not too impressed by your arguments so far. And Luther wanted to remove four more books also because of supposed contradictions, including James which completely demolishes his entire sola fide spiel. I tend to be very weary of canonic disputes outside of the Mother Church or orthodox traditions, so I trust the Catholic Church, there are too many graces testifying Her legitimacy. The fact that protestants not only deny such things as the Apparitions but also blaspheme the Mother of Our Lord is enough for me to disregard their sects as a whole.
Landon Bell
Same. Protestantism is a social club more than anything
Jason Sullivan
I'm not a Lutherfag, I like him because he started sola scriptura but was still infected by calvinism. We don't hate Mary, she sure was blessed but still needed a savior, Catechism of Catholic Church says with all words she was born without sins (CCC 966), exalted by the Lord as Queen over all things (also CCC 966), titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix (CCC 969). You and me know those things are not in the Bible and they only got in the Church tradition because Constantine (first emperor to be pope) was pagan.
>We ask her to pray for us Why? You have a great God that is your best friend, it's like he is a bad guy that needs someone whispering things on his ear.
>SHE has a LOT of influence with God I wonder.
>she IS Christ's mother after all She is the bearer of Christ, bearer of God. Even Jesus refuses to call her mother and give her exclusive attention when he was preaching.
Extra for clearing doubt: >Jesus first miracle was under Mary's request Ask and it shall be given, user. Just like that Canaanite woman that asked for His help Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. (Mt 15:21-28)

any thoughts on a government friendly to Catholicism?

Catholic Practices vs Actual Scripture
1. Mary Worship (muh veneration) & statues. Exodus 20:4-5 KJV (1st/2nd of the 10 commandments removed by the catholic church) >4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. >5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
2. Papacy 1 Timothy 2:5 KJV > For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
3. Saying father to priests or the pope(means father) Matthew 23:9 KJV > And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
4. Calling Mary Mother of God Matthew 12:48-50 KJV >48 But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? >49 And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! >50 For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
5. Calling Mary queen of heaven vs how God feels about it. Jeremiah 7:17-20 >17 Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? >18 The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger. >19 Do they provoke me to anger? saith the Lord: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces? >20 Therefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, mine anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched.
